Our "PURSE" onal Journey

We need to keep our mouths clean.

Chalyce reminded us of the hurtful effects of gossip.

This is when Kandice was explaining (with OBVIOUS intensity the lizard like creature on the ghost in C.S. Lewis' The Great Divorce).
Then she read on and told the sisters that the bad creature changed into a beautiful stallion when the ghost finally relented and allowed the angel to change him and all his weaknesses.

She likened it to Ether 12:27.  We all have our weaknesses, but through the Savior they can be made into strengths, if we will just go through the slightly painful process of repentance and change.

Be an example and "let your light so shine"
so that you can outshine the world!
Matthew 5:16 (ring pop)

"Savor the Sweet Moments"

There is a story of a couple who is on a camping trip.
It is early in the morning and the husband is fishing with a big smile on his face.
The wife peaks her sleepy head out of the tent, her hair in all directions, the mosquitoes buzzing around her face, her eyes barely open. "Tell me again, dear how much fun I am having."
As a parent, do you need to remind yourself occasionally of how much fun you are having?
Be sure to enjoy being a parent. It is a wonderful responsibility.
George I. Cannon Ensign Nov.1986

Take time with your children. Teach them, love them,
savor the sweet moments.

Yesterday is a History
Tomorrow is a Mystery
But today is a Gift
That is why we call it the present

We are the hands of Christ.

All our sisters are so awesome!

They definitely are the "Hands of Christ".

President Monson:
Remember the promise of the Lord: "If ye are prepared ye shall not fear." Fear is a deadly enemy of progress. It is necessary to prepare and to plan so that we don't fritter away our lives. Without a goal, there can be no real success. Someone has said the trouble with not having a goal is that you can spend your life running up and down the field and never crossing the goal line.

Our journey into the future will not be a smooth highway which stretches from here to eternity. Rather, there will be forks and turnings in the road, to say nothing of the unanticipated bumps. We must pray daily to a loving Heavenly Father, who wants each of us to succeed in life.

Prepare for the future.

President Monson:
I recently read the account of a man who, just after the passing of his wife, opened her dresser drawer and found there an item of clothing she had purchased when they visited the eastern part of the United States nine years earlier. She had not worn it but was saving it for a special occasion. Now, of course, that occasion would never come.

In relating the experience to a friend, the husband said, "Don't save something only for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion."

That friend later said those words changed her life. They helped her to cease putting off the things most important to her. Said she: "Now I spend more time with my family. I use crystal glasses every day. I'll wear new clothes to go to the supermarket if I feel like it. The words 'someday' and 'one day' are fading from my vocabulary. Now I take the time to call my relatives and closest friends. I've called old friends to make peace over past quarrels. I tell my family members how much I love them. I try not to delay or postpone anything that could bring laughter and joy into our lives. And each morning, I say to myself that this could be a special day. Each day, each hour, each minute, is special."

The Riches of My Soul

By Sally deFord

Bedtime stories; whispered prayers;
Goodnight kisses; dreams to share
Hands to hold; hearts to mold; faces full of wonder
Innocence and eager eyes;
Gentle laughter; lullabies;
Warmth and peace and memories; these will be my treasures

These are the riches of my soul
This is my bright celestial gold
Precious things my heart will always hold
Dearer than the wealth of all the world

Hymns that ring with joyful praise;
Words of truth that light our days;
Parables; miracles: messages from heaven
Hearts that bear the Savior's name
Kindled by the Spirit's flame
All aglow with faith that grows and love that lasts forever

These are the riches of my soul
This is my bright celestial gold
Precious things my heart will always hold
Dearer than the wealth of all the world

Twilight walks and quiet talk of childhood's hopes and fears
Extra miles and "thank you" smiles I'll cherish through the years
Temple walls and mission calls and silent, grateful tears
These are all the world to me
Treasures I can keep

These are the riches of my soul
This is my bright celestial gold
Precious things my heart will always hold
Dearer than the wealth of all the world

Thank you , Cathy!

Late Night Craziness

Look at the time!
Talk --Talk-- Talk
And More Talk, as ladies are trying to sneak out to go to their own comfy beds after a wonderful program and delightful evening with each other.  UNFORGETTABLE!

Check out that spread--all of the sisters came armed with plenty of food!
Jackie was concerned she wouldn't have room in her car for all the treats, what with her sleeping gear and all!
All set up for where the sleeping MAY Happen.  Non-snorers BEWARE!
Games and Good laughs
Kitty, Mary, Jeanyce, Carrie L., Linsay, Lori, Kandice and  Shelly playing games until the wee hours.  So Fun-Fun-Fun!  They just laughed and laughed.  These women are amazing at being their "Purse-onal BEST!
Lori Griffin was HILARIOUS!  She kept helping the other team during Catchphrase!
To sleep or not to sleep....that is the question
Megan and Windy thinking about hitting the sack.  But no, that little corner( Sarah, Mary, Carrie L. and Chalyce) didn't close their peepers till after 2am!   What is funny though is that no one really said lets go to sleep, we just stopped talking!  Who would have thought that would EVER happen?!

An Epistle on the Adams Park Relief Society Presidency.
And it came to pass there was a thoughtful Relief Society presidency in the Layton East Stake, Adams Park Ward. Yea, and they did counsel together and Jill said unto the presidency, let us plan an overnighter for the multitude of the women in the ward.  And thus they began to plan.  Yea verily, they studied it out in their minds and did decide upon a Camp known as Camp Lomondi on the boarders of a lake in the vicinity of the city of Liberty.  Yea and they did much planning, not like unto the scouts or the Priesthood. Yea they did plan in great detail for many months, insomuch, the angels in heaven must have marveled at the over the top planning that sprung forth with great inspiration, thoughtfulness and love.
And behold, the day came and they all went forth unto the appointed lodge.  Yea and they did light a fire in the fireplace, yea even without a scout or priesthood holder even in the area.  And behold they did play games, give out inspirational sayings and cards and did all manner of things women do when they get together.  All manner of things their husbands only marvel at.  Yea they may even think, what for do they do these things.  And it came to pass they did all have much fun and spoke much, yea even way into the night.  And behold, the hour began to be late and some did wind down and desire to sleep, but many did exercise the women’s prerogative to speak, almost like unto teenagers, into the wee hours of the morning.   Behold, it was reported that some did sleep, yea they even began to expand the walls of the lodge with loud reverberations known as snoring.  Yea verily, insomuch, some could not sleep.  Now it is know that only husbands snore thus there must have been something in the food that caused this curious phenomenon.   Never the less, all had a good time and did make merry and did rejoice one with another.
Yea verily, we say unto the Relief Society Presidency good show.  Many thanks with many kudos and accolades unto you for all you do.
 And we make an end.
Irmgard and Gary
